IF YOU HAVE ALREADY REGISTERED:

We look forward to meeting our new students and their families at Orientation. Check-in is at 8:15 a.m. in the Student Center Rotunda (we have Orientation Leaders and signage to point out the way), and the program concludes by 4:30 p.m. Orientation Leaders will be bringing students to multiple locations throughout the day, so please bring an umbrella in the event of inclement weather.

We provide first-year students a comprehensive orientation experience that begins with our one-day New Student Orientation and continues with our Welcome Week activities and unique Mentoring Program. To make certain that you do not miss any important deadlines or information, we ask you to follow this Checklist for Entering Students.

Checklist for Entering Students

This page contains important dates as well as the links you need to complete various tasks. Please read the Frequently Asked Questions section before proceeding. You will find information about Registering for Orientation; Placement Exams; Changing your Major; Receiving your Course Schedule; Transportation; What to Bring to Campus; and More.

May/June 2008:

  • May 1: Deadline for Deposit
  • Register for Orientation (Beginning May 9)
  • Should you choose to stay over, we have assembled a list of Area Hotels/MotelsPDF and a Travel Information guidePDF
  • May 9: First day to take your mandatory Online Placement Tests and Surveys.
    All tests and surveys must be completed by June 8th.
  • Attend One-Day Freshmen Orientation on May 30, 31, June 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, or 8
    You will receive your schedule for the day at the Registration Check-In Desk
  • June 8: Deadline for all entering students to complete the following online tests and forms:
    • Placement Exams (Foreign Language and Mathematics) and Course Selection Questionnaire
    • Religious Preferences Form
    • Special Interest Housing Application
  • Complete the Post-Orientation Survey after your May 30, 31, June 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, or 8 Orientation Day

July 2008:

  • July 31: Commuters: Apply for your parking permit online. Permits can be picked up on or after September 1st in the Office of Safety and Security. You will need to bring a photocopy of both your drivers license and car registration.

August 2008:

  • August 1: Deadline to complete Health Forms for Incoming Students
  • 1st Week of August:
    • Class Schedules will be mailed by the Registrar's Office
    • Housing Assignments will be posted online by the Office of Housing & Residence Life
  • 3rd Week of August:
    • Residents: Contact your roommate(s) to discuss living arrangements
  • Final Week of August:
    • August 31: Move-In Day & Start of Welcome Week (All Entering Freshmen and Transfers)
    • August 31 - September 4: Welcome Week

September 2008:

  • September 1: Welcome Week Academic Orientation and Transfer Orientation Continues
  • September 1: Commuters: Parking Permits are available for pick up in the Office of Safety and Security. You will need to bring a photocopy of both your driver's license and car registration
  • September 2: First Day of Classes
  • September 26, 27 & 28: Family Weekend
