The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration is a broad-based degree, resting upon the even broader Core/Liberal Studies curriculum required of all Marist students. The mission of the Business Administration degree is to provide students with a thorough understanding of the body of knowledge necessary to fulfill the expectations of employers for entry-level positions in their chosen field.
The Business Administration program in the School of Management is fully accredited by AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, the premier accrediting organization for business programs worldwide.
We ground our students in all of the functional areas of business, and give them opportunities to become skilled in applying what they have learned, so that they can enter the world of business as problem-solvers who have the potential to become effective, socially responsible managers and leaders.
After taking the analytical preparation courses and the core business courses in marketing, human resource management, finance, operations management, organizational behavior, and law, students pick an area of emphasis - international business, finance, marketing, or human resource management. They can even construct, with permission of their advisor, a customized area of emphasis that crosses discipline lines. Some students manage to fit into their programs more than one area of emphasis.
Our many internships throughout the Hudson River Valley, New York City, and overseas in six other countries (UK, Spain, France, Italy, Ireland, and Australia) offer excellent opportunities to integrate academic knowledge with actual business operations. Internships allow students to acquire that all-important "experience" that means so much to employers.
Students who have declared their major in a prior year should consult the appropriate catalog.
The Business Club
The Business Club is a relatively new and growing organization. It is comprised primarily of students with Business, Accounting, and Economics majors and minors. The Club provides a social gathering for the School of Management students while bringing informative and practical services to its members.
The mission of the Business Club is to provide practical, informative, and entertaining subject matter to the students. Most importantly, it is a link between the administration, the faculty, and the students at Marist. The purpose of the Business Club is to provide a forum for students to discuss their related interest in the business world as well as broaden their knowledge of business opportunities and experiences outside of the classroom.
The Business Club meets once every two weeks. During the meetings, the members discuss various issues pertaining to finance, marketing, human resources, international business, and so on. Additionally, they take periodic field trips to select companies in New York City, sponsor fund raising and community service projects, invite professionals from the "Real Business World" to give lectures on their own experiences, and much more.
To learn more about the Business Club and their upcoming events or how to become a member, you can reach their club mailbox at 845-575-3000 x7676.
