Marist Wins MAAC's Highest Honor

Marist has once again earned the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference's (MAAC) highest honor, the MAAC Commissioner's Cup, for the 2007-08 academic year. This is the fourth consecutive year the Red Foxes have won the Cup, and eighth time overall. The eight Cups won by Marist is tied with La Salle for the highest total in conference history. The Commissioner's Cup is awarded annually as a symbol of overall excellence in athletics.

Marist took conference titles in men's and women's swimming and diving, women's basketball, women's lacrosse and water polo, men's and women's crew, as well as men's and women's tennis for the 2007-08 season. The Red Foxes earned a share of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Football League title as well.

"We've proven once again that both academic and athletic excellence can go hand in hand," Marist College President Dr. Dennis J. Murray said. "This is a significant accomplishment for our athletes, coaches, and our athletic administration. We all take great pride in what they've been able to do. All the Marist students have to complete a rigorous curriculum, which makes this accomplishment all the more significant."

Congratulations to the student-athletes, athletic department and each coaching staff for all their hard work. For more information on Marist Athletics please visit GoRedFoxes.com.
