William Thirsk

William Thirsk was appointed Vice President and Chief Information Officer in June 2007. As Vice President he oversees all areas of information technology and also the copy center and post office.

Bill has over twenty years of experience in higher education technology management as a campus technology officer. He previously served as the SunGard Managed Services CIO at Mercy College under a contract arrangement between Mercy and SunGard. SunGard is a major provider of technology services to institutions of higher education. Previous to that he was Executive Director of Technology and CIO of St. Thomas University in Miami, Florida; Director of Computing at Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina; and Director of Administrative Computing at Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland.

Bill's experience in higher education technology management is broad based covering such areas as technology planning, network management, telecommunications, web services, and instructional technology. He also developed a special expertise in enterprise resources planning (ERP) systems having managed the implementation of ERP systems in five different institutions.

Bill has a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from George Washington University and an MBA from the New York Institute of Technology.

Bill is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
